This week, we had the honor, along with our Mexican colleague Jorge Pickett, to host Irish Ambassador to Mexico, Ms. Barbara Jones. The Ambassador visited to discuss business opportunities between Ireland and Mexico, particularly the border region of San Diego and Tijuana.
We owe a great deal of appreciation to the cities of Tijuana and Ensenada, as well as the State of Baja California. Through their assistance, we were able to meet with city officials, state executives including Governor Francisco Vega de Lamadrid, the port authority of Ensenada, and host a dinner with Tijuana business leaders including many members of Coparmex Tijuana. Also, we toured Smurfit Kappa, an Irish global corporation that provides sustainable packaging and has large scale operations in Tijuana. The trip ended with lunch and a tour of the impressive Decantos winery in Valle de Guadalupe.
We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with Ireland and furthering the cooperation of the Tijuana – San Diego region.
