Hone Maxwell LLP tax law attorney Cameron Davidson applies his familiarity and understanding of U.S. and international tax laws to help clients find the right solution to their tax questions. He helps small business and individual taxpayers located in the U.S. or abroad who need foreign-domestic tax planning, tax reporting, tax auditing or tax controversy guidance. His clients commonly require assistance after failing to file required tax reports or misreporting on their tax forms. Cameron also advises clients on tax planning to avoid future, costly errors that could lead to audits and fines. In addition, he helps clients comply with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), the Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) and Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income (GILTI) requirements.
Cameron’s tax law services include:
- Tax planning
- Tax audits

- Cross-border taxation issues
- IRS notices
- Offers in compromise
- Payment plans
- Back taxes owed
- Amended tax filings
Cameron, who has always had an interest in the functionality of things, was first drawn to the study of law because he wanted to deconstruct it and learn how it worked. Tax law became his focus because it informs so much of the legal advice attorneys give to their clients, but only a select few are experts. Cameron appreciates tax laws’ complexities and finds beauty in how they are drafted. Because the tax codes are always changing, Cameron keeps himself apprised of updates and is adept at translating tax laws to educate his clients. He recognizes that many people feel stress, frustration and fear over tax issues, so Cameron diffuses clients’ anxiety with gentle humor and responsive service.
Before joining HMLLP, Cameron handled tax and various other matters for clients at a small law firm. After earning his master’s in taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law, Cameron worked for several years as a tax change analyst and a tax research specialist at H&R Block, gaining valuable experience researching law for direct online correspondence with users of the company’s self-preparation software. He also volunteered at Legal Aid of San Diego’s Low Income Tax Clinic for several years. While earning his law degree at California Western School of Law, Cameron served as a legal intern and law clerk at two law firms and was vice president of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association.
