Managing Partner Josh Maxwell took home a California Distinguished Leader Award at an awards ceremony on June 24, 2026, in Los Angeles. The Recorder announced that Josh was one of 13 elite lawyers in California to receive the honor.
In a Q&A with Josh published by The Recorder, the international tax attorney shared some of his proudest achievements, his approach to leadership, and his views on how the business and profession of law are changing.
Josh noted the firm’s growth and expansion in recent years in terms of both geographic locations and services it provides, such as opening offices in Singapore and Mexico, establishing a presence in Latin America, and expanding its Global Private Counsel initiative.
He shared his observations that the business and legal industry are becoming increasingly global for clients of all types and that, to adapt, lawyers must build
relationships across borders.
“Law is often viewed as a technical profession,” Josh said. “Technical excellence absolutely matters, but the lawyers who make the greatest impact over time are the ones who build genuine, personal relationships with clients, colleagues and mentors.”
