International Tax Attorney Josh Maxwell Provides Tax Season Recommendations in Mexico News Reports

Foreign U.S. taxpayers are at greater risk for IRS audits and must be prepared, Hone Maxwell LLP Managing Partner Josh Maxwell said recently in multiple Mexico news reports focused on tax season recommendations.

We know that a recent increase in IRS funding will result in more audits, the international tax lawyer said. This means that non-U.S. people with tax reporting requirements — who are already facing challenges because of complex and ever-changing tax laws — must be especially prepared, he added.

Precise planning, understanding when Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) filings are needed and consulting with a skilled and knowledgeable international tax attorney are the best ways to hopefully avoid, but be prepared for, an IRS audit, Josh said.

While HMLLP is a California-based tax and corporate law firm, it largely serves international individuals and businesses — including those in Mexico from its office in Tijuana. See more of Josh’s recommendations in these Spanish-language news reports:
