Hone Maxwell LLP Managing Partner Josh Maxwell told Law360 that the firm is already a part of the Tijuana, Mexico community — so opening an office in the border city was the next logical step.
“Many of our services will remain the same, including helping Americans with international tax planning and noncompliance issues,” Josh told the national legal publication. “However, the Tijuana office will likely have a larger focus helping Mexicans invest into the U.S. and Mexican businesses expand into the U.S.”
The May 19 article followed the firm’s announcement that it was expanding into Tijuana and had undergone a rebrand — which includes a new firm website.
In addition to advising U.S. and foreign businesses and individuals on tax law, HMLLP’s international business practice has grown in recent years, Law360 noted. Josh said this service area developed because of the firm’s ability “to guide foreign entities through the complex U.S. tax laws while having a deep understanding of their business cultures, thanks to the relationships and partnerships we’ve made in Mexico and Asia.”
Josh added that HMLLP is already building a presence in Mexico City and Guadalajara and is expanding throughout Asia, especially in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
